About

The New York Consortium in Evolutionary Primatology (NYCEP) includes faculty, scientific staff, and students from the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH), the City University of New York (CUNY), Columbia University, the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine (MSISM), New York University (NYU), and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). NYCEP is unique among major graduate training programs in including five equal peer institutions, rather than some "feeder" and other "receiving" (often higher profile) universities. CUNY, Columbia, NYU and the AMNH Richard Gilder Graduate School (RGGS) train PhD students directly, while WCS has trained postdoctoral associates in the past and currently provides resource faculty and unique access to living primates in New York and field sites overseas.

From NYCEP's inception in 1992 through 2022, it was directed by Prof. Eric Delson working in coordination with institutional leads at each of the constituent institutions. With Prof. Delson's retirement in 2022, we have also retired the NYCEP Director role and are moving forward with a broadly representative Steering Committee that includes faculty from across our institutions as well as student representation.
